- What do you love about Dayton?
- I enjoy that Dayton is small enough that you see some of the same people around town and yet it has many of the cultural and nightlife activities of a larger city. There is a beautiful art museum, a wonderful theater, countless venues to see live music, not to mention the Air Force Museum.
- How has Generation Dayton aided your professional, personal and/or social development?
- Generation Dayton has provided me with an outlet for networking both socially and professionally. I have made many friends and learned a lot through the various professional and social events. It has also allowed me an outlet to volunteer and give back to the community.
- Tell us a little more about your profession and company...
- ATK (Alliant Techsystems Inc. – www.atk.com) is a premier aerospace and defense company comprised of approximately 18,000 employees spanning the USA. ATK makes everything from the rockets that launch the space shuttle into orbit to the bullets that help protect our troops. ATK has strengthened its capabilities as a whole solution provider by acquiring and building upon some of the best niche design and manufacturing houses in the country, in order to place it at the forefront of challenging the status quo with affordable, innovative solutions. The particular area I work in is ATK - Mission Systems, which in Beavercreek designs and manufactures composite aerospace structures, antennas, & radomes. With my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Dayton and my current pursuit of my M.B.A., I serve as a project engineer on many ongoing projects with aspirations of becoming a project manager in the future.
- What do you enjoy about your career/profession? Employer?
- I enjoy being involved with a product from conception to delivery. It is rewarding seeing a part you designed and were a part of being shipped off to be used to protect the war fighter. I have been with ATK since I graduated undergrad and have been given the opportunity to grow from an entry level design engineer to a project level engineer that has a significant and meaningful role in the outcome of projects. ATK is also supporting my pursuit of an M.B.A. at Wright State University with a concentration in Project Management.
