Favorite Weekend Activity:: I enjoy hanging out with my friends for dinner, taking a bike ride along the river, visiting my family or making them come visit me, watching movies, going to see a local band play, or watch a musical downtown!
What do you love about Dayton?: I love the charm of Dayton. I attended the University of Dayton for my undergraduate degree, and while I was there, I never ventured far off campus. But the times I did, I always thought traveling downtown was an experience and I wanted to see more. Now that I’m living and working in Dayton, I can’t get over how many great things this city has to offer. Be it a small coffee shop to read a book in, a bike path along the river, a state of the art performance center, or a local bar hosting a battle of the bands – there is something for everyone.
How has Generation Dayton aided your professional, personal and/or social development?: From the moment I joined Generation Dayton I knew I wanted to be more involved. The people I met were so passionate about what they did inside and outside of GenD. On the personal and social side, I have met so many great people through Generation Dayton that I never would have had the opportunity to meet before. Whether it’s at a Fourth Friday Lunch or a Dayton Gems Hockey Game, I know when I attend something for Generation Dayton I’ll see a familiar face, get a big hello, and always enjoy myself. As far as my professional side, I have attended workshops and seminars hosted by Generation Dayton or referred to me by other members. I have met industry leaders at these events and have been inspired to advance my education (at some point in the future!). I have grown as a young professional during the past year and I have Generation Dayton to thank for that!
Tell us a little more about your profession and company...: Day Air Credit Union is a full-service financial institution serving the Miami Valley since 1945. We exist to improve our member’s financial education and to become their primary financial institution. Day Air is out in the community every day –teaching kids how to save money, providing financial education seminars to the community, or attending events to show our support for local businesses.; As the design coordinator I assist the Director of Marketing, Business Development Manager, and Branch Managers through the design, creation, production, and coordination of various marketing materials and activities to promote Day Air Credit Union’s products and services. I also handle the Credit Union’s social media outlets.
What do you enjoy about your career/profession? Employer?: When I was hired by Day Air, I didn’t even know what a credit union was. Since that day almost 2 years ago, I have learned and become an avid supporter of credit unions. I learned the difference between banks and credit unions, not only in their structure, but in their philosophies. I whole-heartedly believe in the credit union philosophy – people helping people. Day Air is a great example and that’s part of the reason I have adopted credit unions as my primary financial institution! I find it rewarding knowing that I work for such a great company that really is there help educate everyone about how to manage their money and handle their finances. It doesn’t matter if you have one dollar or one million – someone is always willing to help.
